Features

See another screen, take control, move files and stay in touch — all in one simple, private session. Every feature below runs inside the same end-to-end encrypted connection, on every DoorDast install, free.

Full remote control — or just watch

Watch the other screen live and take over the mouse and keyboard as if you were sitting in front of it. Multi-monitor setups are supported — switch between displays from the toolbar. And when control isn’t the point, view-only mode shares the screen without handing over input: ideal for demos, walkthroughs, or keeping an eye on a long-running job.

Crystal-clear video that tunes itself

DoorDast tests what your two devices can actually handle — hardware encoders included — and picks the sharpest codec and resolution automatically. When the network dips, quality adapts on the fly instead of freezing. There are no codec menus to fiddle with, because there don’t need to be.

Connects where other tools give up

Sessions ride a fast modern transport (QUIC) and drop to a firewall-friendly fallback automatically on strict office, hotel or café networks. There is no VPN to set up and no router ports to forward — share a code and you’re connected, at home or across the world.

Two-way file transfer, free

Browse the other computer’s folders and send files in either direction through a proper transfer queue — pause, resume or cancel at any time, with progress you can actually see. Transfers travel inside the same end-to-end encrypted session as everything else, and the other side stays in control of what is shared. No size-limit upsell.

Shared clipboard

Copy on one computer, paste on the other. Text, links and snippets travel with you both ways — the small feature you end up using fifty times a session.

Built-in chat

Message the person on the other end without leaving the session window or juggling a phone call — perfect for guiding someone through a fix step by step. Chat is end-to-end encrypted like everything else.

Unattended access to your own computers

Set an access password on your own PC and connect to it any time without someone clicking “accept” on the other end — the way remote access to your own desktop should work. For everyone else, consent stays mandatory.

Power & system controls

Restart, shut down, sleep, sign out, lock the screen, send Ctrl+Alt+Del or grab a screenshot — straight from the session toolbar. Reboot the remote machine and DoorDast picks the session back up when it returns.

Never lose your place

If your internet hiccups, DoorDast quietly reconnects and resumes the session where you left off — no new code, no re-approval, no starting over. Flaky hotel Wi-Fi stops being a reason to give up.

Your devices, together

Sign in (optional) and your favorite and recent computers follow you everywhere, each showing live whether it is online and ready. Favorites and history work even before you create an account — and merge into it when you do.

Guests join from a browser

The person you’re sharing with doesn’t need to install anything: they open a link in Chrome or Edge, type the code, and see your screen — view-only, end-to-end encrypted. See remote desktop in the browser for how it works.

Private by default

Everything above runs inside an end-to-end encrypted session: AES-256, fresh keys every time, no keys on our servers. DoorDast even hides its own windows from the shared view so your controls never appear on the other screen. The full story is on the Security & Privacy page.

Always up to date

DoorDast updates itself quietly in the background. You get new features and fixes without ever hunting for an installer.
